At the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy of Algeria, the State Secretary of the department in charge of renewable energy issues, Mr. Noureddine Yassa, met with the General Director of the Spanish company Coolergy S.L. Mr Kirill Lyats in the presence of the heads of the ministry, the department reported on its Facebook account.
The meeting was devoted to discussing the possibilities of cooperation and investment between Sonatrach and the Spanish company Coolergy in the field of hydrogen development, especially in terms of its multi-purpose use, in particular in transport. During the talks, the main focus was on technologies for producing liquid hydrogen, including liquefaction, storage and transportation, as well as the use of Spanish experience in this field.
The parties also discussed the potential for developing the use of hydrogen in transport, including trains, ships, trucks and buses powered by liquid hydrogen. The Secretary of State, Mr Noureddine Yassa, highlighted the enormous potential of Algeria in the field of green and blue hydrogen, pointing out the importance of building strategic partnerships to develop an integrated infrastructure that will strengthen Algeria’s position as a regional hub for production and export of hydrogen.
For his part, Mr. Kiril Lyats expressed Coolergy S.L.’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with Algeria, especially with Sonatrach, in hydrogen projects. He stressed that Algeria is the company’s strategic partner in its plans to create liquid hydrogen production centres in Africa and Europe.
